ECAP Enrollment Update: Payments Are Already Rolling Out

Farmers are already seeing Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP) payments hit their bank accounts, just days after enrollment opened. If you haven’t signed up yet, now is the time. The process is simple, and most of the information is prefilled using your 2024 planted and prevent plant eligible crops from your 578 Producer Print form.

Key Reminders for Enrollment

Payment Reductions for Shareholders

  • If you farm on shares with the landowner, your payment will be adjusted based on your percentage of the crop.

Prevent Plant and Crop Eligibility

  • If you filed for prevent plant on corn but later planted soybeans, you are only eligible for 50% of the prevent plant corn acres.

  • Soybean acres planted after prevent plant corn will not qualify for assistance.

What if you didn’t Report Acres in 2024?

  • You can still submit your 578 form before the August 15th deadline.

  • Late filing fees may apply.

Payments Are Prorated

  • Payments are currently set at 85% to ensure all applicants receive assistance.

  • Additional payments may be issued later, but likely not before the deadline.

How are Payments Calculated?

  • The ECAP Calculator provides a breakdown of expected payments based on your farm operation.
